ASSOCIATED GENERAL CONTRACTORS OF UTAH NEW HEADQUARTERS

Design of the 10,000 SF facility which houses the Associated General Contractors administrative, training and operations activities. Included in the facility are spaces designated specifically for contractor/community related activities such as a large divisible training room and pre-function space. In addition a boardroom is available for executive meetings. Energy conservation is an important consideration and the mechanical systems utilized will be flexible to accommodate the wide variety of activities envisioned in the facility. The project achieved LEED NC Gold Certification under the leadership of Archiplex Group. The project also received a 2010 ACI award for its use of pervious concrete paving and the Silver Award for Architecture from Mountain States Construction.

The Owner had several important considerations chief among them was to minimize overall project cost by utilizing contributions of material and services from the members of the Association. At the end of the project over 270 contractors and subcontractors, members of the AGC, had participated resulting in the majority of the cost being donated. Time was approached in a more flexible manner to accommodate the contributions of all involved however the Owner was still able to move-in prior to the end of 2009 as originally planned. We have since done a modification of their training center. Prior to this Archiplex provided an office remodel for the AGC’s previous location.
