PRESTON CROXFORD, AIA PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT

Although he’s convinced that it is revisionist history, Preston’s mother swears he told her in kindergarten that he wanted to grow up to be an architect. What can’t be refuted, however, is his lifelong interest in the arts, in construction, and the outdoors. As a child these curiosities resulted in at least one nail-through-the-foot experience during many after-hours explorations through construction sites to source materials for fort-building or skateboard ramp construction. As an adult these creative passions have logically led him to a career as an architect. A Utah native, Preston has made a few half-hearted attempts to flee the Beehive State but is drawn to the community, the proximity to outdoor recreation, and the opportunities to effect change in the built environment in the state where his roots run deep.

Preston’s joy is experienced through his earthly journey serving the ultimate architect and Creator, God our Father, who has blessed him with a beautiful wife and 3 wonderful children.

He is currently semi-retired and works as a specialty consultant for the firm but has ceded ownership and daily operations of the company to Preston.

KRISTEN MULLER, DESIGN STAFF

Kristen comes from a lineage of creativity and craftsmanship to carve her unique path in the world of design and adventure. Born to a skilled carpenter and a talented faux painter, her passion for architecture and interior design was almost predestined.

As a content Agnostic-Atheist navigating the Utah culture, Kristen brings a distinct perspective to her work. She may reside in a place steeped in religious traditions, but her creative spirit knows no boundaries.

In her own unique way, Kristen defies expectations; she’s not one to conform. Oreos and melons may be cherished by many, but she stands firmly in her dislikes, unapologetically charting her own culinary course.

Beyond her design prowess, Kristen is a woman of many passions. She thrives in the great outdoors, whether it’s gracefully skiing down pristine slopes or exploring rugged trails on a hike. Her love for nature is beautifully echoed in her artistic pursuits—drawing, painting, and photography, which capture the essence of the world around her.

But Kristen’s artistic talents extend far beyond the canvas. With a background in metalsmithing and a penchant for costume and fashion design, she weaves creativity into every facet of her life. Arts and crafts, in their myriad forms, are her playground, allowing her to express her boundless imagination.

With an MFA in Commercial Interior Design from the prestigious Savannah College of Art & Design and a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College, Kristen possesses a formidable academic foundation. Her career has seen her don many hats, from artistry to faux painting, drafting, rendering, and the intricate art of design.

Yet, Kristen’s path wasn’t always so clear. In the 8th grade, a counselor’s suggestion that she pursue interior design left her bewildered. “Play with pillows and curtains?” she wondered, never imagining that her journey would lead to a career that lets her transform spaces into works of art.

Alongside her design endeavors, Kristen has donned another long-term hat—that of a ski instructor. Her commitment to her craft is unwavering, even when she’s not actively employed in the field. Her love for skiing is more than just a pastime; it’s a testament to her dedication to mastering the art of teaching and sharing her passion with others.

DAYANA CEVALLOS LUDLOW, ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATE

From my earliest memories, I’ve been immersed in the world of architecture and design. In my childhood, I was often surrounded by engineering and construction plans from my father, a distinguished civil engineer, and I developed an innate passion for the field. This passion blossomed during my undergraduate years as I pursued a degree in Architecture. For me, architecture is more than just building structures—it’s an art form that combines beauty, function, and technique to evoke positive emotions in its inhabitants. It’s the canvas upon which dreams are realized.

Passionate: Dayana carries an unwavering dedication to creating spaces that resonate with the heart.

Meticulous: Every detail in Dayana’s designs is considered, ensuring a harmonious balance between aesthetics and functionality. She believes that the magic of architecture lies in the intricate details that often go unnoticed, yet contribute significantly to the overall experience.

People-Centric: At the core of Dayana’s designs is a commitment to bringing joy and happiness to those who inhabit and experience them. Her architectural creations are not just structures; they are living, breathing spaces that enhance the lives of those who interact with them.

Outside the world of architecture, Dayana immerses herself in the worlds of reading and writing, constantly seeking narratives that expand her perspective. She finds serenity in walking, using it as a time for introspection and connection with her surroundings. Above all, she cherishes heartwarming conversations with her most treasured people in life: her family.

While pursuing her Master’s Degree in Architectural Projects at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC – ETSAB), Dayana delved deep into the concept of silence in architecture, a passion that evolved into a PhD thesis proposal. Over the past 12 years, this exploration has honed her interest in designing “in-between” spaces—what she considers the experiences of silence within a structure. These spaces, much like pauses in music or punctuation in poetry, amplify emotions and experiences. Think of halls, corridors, entrances, vestibules, the corner in buildings, urban voids, etc.; they are moments of pause that enhance the architectural journey.

Dayana’s journey in architecture has also gifted her with rich multicultural experiences. She’s been privileged to immerse herself in the nuances of South American, European, and American cultures, fluently navigating through three languages and bringing diverse perspectives to her designs. Her work is a testament to the beautiful tapestry of experiences and influences that shape her creative vision.
