EAST CANYON CREEK TRAILHEAD SUSTAINABLE

Archiplex Group designed the East Canyon Creek Trailhead Sustainable Restroom for the Snyderville Basin Special Recreation District. The project involved creating an approximately 300 square foot insulated restroom building, equipped with both men’s and women’s ADA accessible single occupant restrooms and a storage closet. The main goal of the District was to maximize energy efficiency in the facility, incorporating passive lighting and heating strategies. Additionally, the restroom has been designed with the potential for future PV installation, in order to reduce or even eliminate operating costs related to lighting, heating, and ventilating. As part of the project, an analysis comparing the costs of a 100% solar-powered facility to one connected to the electrical grid was provided. The scope of work also included the installation of sewer and water connections, necessitating the addition of new piping. Finally, the facility has taken advantage of native landscaping, minimizing the need for irrigation.
