BLESSED SACRAMENT

The Sandy Parish of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake had outgrown its temporary facilities, which were originally built in 1974. The worship space, which initially only seated 350 individuals, can now accommodate over 600 individuals. However, the limited space of the facility severely restricted special events, such as weddings and first communions.

To address these challenges, a new worship space was constructed, along with several enhancements, providing parishioners with a church that is adequate to meet their current and future needs. This development also fulfills the original founder’s master plan for a consolidated campus, which includes a church, education center, parish center, youth center, and rectory. The unique architectural design of the worship space was achieved through the input of parishioners and the dedication of volunteer committees. The seating arrangement was carefully planned to provide enhanced visibility, superior acoustics, and improved lighting and circulation, all of which aim to foster and facilitate more active participation in the liturgy.

The success of this project was recognized when it was awarded Intermountain Contractor’s Best Private Project under $5M for the year 2006.
