CENTRAL UTAH CORRECTIONAL FACILITY CHAPEL

Archiplex Group, in collaboration with DMJM Design, served as the Associate Architect and provided design services for the State of Utah DFCM A/E project. This project aimed to complete the north compound at the State Prison located in Gunnison, Utah. As part of this development, a 3,500 square foot Chapel was constructed, providing seating for 250 individuals. The Chapel serves as a space for non-denominational services for the inmate population, as well as for additional programming and educational commencement exercises. To ensure optimal acoustics, an acoustical engineer helped design the arched shape, which effectively prevents any reverberation issues. However, the construction process posed challenges, including coordinating services within an occupied secure facility and dealing with extreme weather conditions that are typical in the Gunnison area.
